They say never judge a book by its cover, but for a Young Mississippi boy, Marcus Ohuonu cover was the only shield of sanity he had while creating feel good music to eliminate memories of a painful past. Born on June 15, the self proclaimed MC started his musical journey during a time when he lost his mother, his grandmother, an aunt and a cousin all to untimely deaths. “What don’t kill you definitely makes you stronger”, said FATIGUE as he talked about his journey to the industry.” I remember breaking peas while listening to blues with my grandmother,” said the rapper, “At that point I knew music would play a pivotal role in my future”. In 1997 he formed the dynamic duo Toy Soldiers alongside a childhood friend where the name FATIGUE was born. With little foundation to stand, the group submerged, and FATIGUE found himself on a college campus composing a 23 song mix-tape entitled, "Brake Yo Self”. As a result of FATIGUE'S local success, he knew it was time for a major change, one that meant uprooting to a bigger city with better opportunities. In a 1989 abandoned white Jeep Cherokee, FATIGUE packed all of his belongings, and moved to Atlanta where he currently resides with a passionate drive, finally living his dream and looking back on everything that happened with a Smile. --Talk About Perseverance!

Nike Sportswear has employed the Bright Mandarin shade of orange on a number of retro runners this spring, and with two different Air Max 24/7s offering their own grey/white/orange mix, it seems only right to include the immortal Nike Air Max 95 in this discussion. This upcoming pair of Ninety-Fives offers a slightly modified take on the classic grey-dient including a black mesh layer that converges into the aforementioned shade of orange on the eyelets. Proof that not all black and orange kicks have to look like a jack-o-lantern, these new Air Max 95s are slated to hit select NSW retailers during the first week of April so click through to see more and stick with BLVDAVE for word on the US release.
With the Easter holiday a month away, expect to see a ton of pastel tones sprinkled around your local convenient store, church, or retail shop. This Air Jordan VII retro colorway for girls features nice easter-egg hues of blue and purple, matched perfectly with neutral grey – more like the Year of the Bunny instead of the Rabbit. Of course the connection between the AJ7 and the cuddly mammals goes back to Bugs Bunny and the Air Jordan VII ‘Hare’, but these 2011 releases provide a much-needed update to the classic colorway. These have begun to hit Jordan Brand retailers, so check your local spot to see if they’ve them in.
Color: Neutral Grey/Mineral Blue-Bright Violet-White
UPDATE: These are available at foot locker !!!

Three of the four original Air Jordan III colorways have/will see retro releases this year,
and with the Fire Reds out of the picture (at least for now),
‘White Cements’ having already dropped and
‘Black Cements’ on tap for the holiday season, any true Jordanhead could tell you which one’s left.
Check out these new photos of the 2011 Air Jordan 3 ‘True Blue’,
a model that’s picture perfect when compared to the OGs and should satisfy some of the frustrated fans who couldn’t get their hands on a pair when they dropped in ’09.
The question with a model of this legendary stature is often ‘How many,’
rather than ‘If’, but with all the aforementioned pairs plus the recent BHM and upcoming Stealth joints, which ones will you pick?
Taylor Steele’s Poor Specimen production company has created over twenty movies, music videos and TV shows, most of which revolve around his love of surfing. He’s not Jack Johnson or anything, but from the looks of Steele’s Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke, we’d have to assume he also has a thing for Gibson guitar(s) (cases). At least, that’s what looking at his 1of1 AF1s would remind most sneakerheads, their oiled brown leather uppers and two toned gum sole bearing a striking resemblance to 2008′s Dunk Low Premium SB ‘Gibson’. That combination is impeccable but Steele went a bit further, applying a custom swirly graphic (inspired by a ripcurl, perhaps?) on the lateral heel, dubrae and hangtag, with a red sockliner and tongue finishing things off with an aggressive punch. Click through to get a better look and be sure to let us know how these rank against the other AF1 Bespokes we’ve profiled here on Sneaker News. via Surfbang
Jordan hybrids always stir up heated debate, but when considering the long-term of Jordan Brand’s relevance to the sneaker game, the Legacy needs to be reinvented in one way or another.
Replacing Air Jordans 1 through XIV is an impossible task and re-issuing every Air Jordan colorway will soon exhaust itself, so there must be methods to rejuvenate the line without compromising the original beauty and design.
One way to do that is by modernizing its classic designs by infusing the latest in Nike technology, and the Air Jordan II Max does just that as it pairs the Air Jordan II with a full-length Max Air unit.
Even the original Air Jordans were not widely receive, but with an open mind, hybrids like the Air Jordan II Max will not only become ‘acceptable’, but desirable.
So take another good look at the Air Jordan II Max and let us know what you think.
HOT OR NOT ???
Gucci Mane shows his grill for the cover of The Source’s annual Green Issue. The feature is written by moi and hits newsstands March 22nd. Below is an excerpt of La Flare on making the Forbes list last year.
Source: You don’t make Forbes by being stupid. Do you feel like people doubt your intelligence?
Gucci: Yeah. The critics and bloggers ridicule and scrutinize [but] it fuels my fire. I can’t say I want to enjoy all the spoils of the game without being criticized. I actually welcome it as a part of success. I don’t want everybody to like me. So many people feel like I don’t deserve the things I got. I know I worked so hard for ‘em, so [criticism] makes me work even harder.
Here's the vid for Gucci's track titled "24" off his new mixtape "The Return of Mr. Zone 6" out March 22nd !!!
Lupe’s first week numbers are in and as predicted, Lasers beamed its way to the top after moving approximately 204k units since its release March 8th. This marks the rapper’s first album to debut at number one.
CONGRATS YOUNG MAN !!! N DEY SAY CHI CITY !!!
One of Hip Hop's most iconic voices Nate Dogg passed away last night at the age of 41.
Hip Hop suffered another loss late last night, as Long Beach, California news site PressTelegram.com reports that Nathaniel "Nate Dogg" Hale has died at the age of 41.
Although no official cause of death has been announced, the former Death Row alum suffered from two strokes, his most recent one in September 2008.
A number of artists have confirmed Nate's passing via Twitter, including long-time friend and frequent collaborator Snoop Dogg.
Born and raised in Long Beach, California, Nate Dogg first began singing in Long Beach's New Hope Baptist Church in Long Beach and Life Line Baptist Church in Clarksdale, Mississippi, where his father was a pastor. In 1991, he formed a rap trio 213 with friends and fellow LBC residents Warren G and Snoop Dogg. Their demo found its way to Dr. Dre, who then enlisted all three members on his seminal debut The Chronic. Nate eventually signed with west coast powerhouse Death Row Records.
As a solo artist, Nate released three albums, including 1998's G-Funk Classics, Vols. 1 & 2, 2001's Music & Me and his self-titled 2003 release. He also reunited with Snoop Dogg and Warren G as 213 for 2004's The Hard Way. Nate established himself as a staple of west coast Hip Hop in his plethora of guest features, singing on classics like Warren G's "Regulate," Snoop Dogg's "Ain't No Fun" and Dr. Dre's "Xxplosive." He also leant his vocals to a number of charting-topping hits from a wide variety of Hip Hop's elite, including 2Pac, Eminem, Pharoahe Monch, Mos Def, Ludacris, 50 Cent and many more.
BLVDAVE would like to extend our condolences and sympathies to the family and friends of Nate Dogg. Rest In Peace big homie
props 2 hiphopdx for the info !!!
Earlier in the month, Forbes broke down the five wealthiest Hip Hop moguls, saying that the genre's top earners - Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Birdman, Dr. Dre and Diddy. Now, in a recent blog, Forbes's Zack O'Malley Greenburg explained why Diddy, who's worth a whopping $475 million, may be the first of the genre to make a billion dollars.
According to Greenburg, Diddy's extensive branding with his Bad Boy imprint and clothing lines like Sean John and Enyce have already netted him hundreds of millions of dollars. Experts indicate, however, that Diddy's involement with Ciroc vodka will prove to be essential to him reaching the billion dollar mark. Although Ciroc isn't selling as much as its sister brand Ketel One, Diddy's work with the budding vodka label may earn him nine figures in the future.
"The product is important," says one equity analyst from Edward Jones & Co Jack Russo. “But the name on the product is about ten times as important...Ciroc is a very popular brand, and it’s been growing. It has that cache. It’s in the right spot in the right sector.”
At the same time, Diddy's public image has proven integral to his immense success. His ability to reinvent himself as a mogul, a musician and an actorhas helped him create a multi-medium brand that consumers easily recognize.
"He makes his lifestyle coexist with everything else he’s doing,” said Hip Hop pioneer Fab 5 Freddy. "The broad scope of his career and how he’s been able to stay relevant is one of the great examples of personal brand-building."

Jordan Brand describes its Bin 23 Collection as “lost stories, resurrected by passion, that are finally ready to be whispered again.” Each Premio colorway is inspired by a previous sample that did not make it into production, so what can we make of this unreleased version of the Air Jordan IX Premio Look-See sample? Will there be a Bin 23 Collection of the Bin 23 Collection? Now we're showing you this Air Jordan IX sample that features a grey-toned color scheme with snake-skin on the upper mudguard. Nike’s concerted efforts at maintaining a level of awareness to wildlife preservation could have been one major reason as to why this sample was never produced, opting for the equally luxurious White/Metallic Gold as the final release.
The Look-See sample of the Air Jordan IX Premio features a matte-finished grey snakeskin upper with a luxurious grey leather upper and cream-colored roped laces. Paired with the white midsole is a grey outsole similar to the Air Jordan IX ‘Cool Grey’ release from 2002. It’s worth pointing out that this Look-See sample and the released version have next to nothing in common, so it’s quite apparent that the minds behind the Jordan Brand Bin 23 Collection went ‘back to the drawing board’ with this one! Regardless of the reasons behind this Snakeskin sample being thrown in the vault, these are certainly a unique collector’s item that will wow even the most hard-to-please Jordan fans. Now on ebay for bidding @ http://stores.ebay.com/toebox-champ

TOKYO – A ferocious tsunami unleashed by Japan's biggest recorded earthquake slammed into its eastern coast Friday, killing hundreds of people as it carried away ships, cars and homes, and triggered widespread fires that burned out of control.
Hours later, the waves washed ashore on Hawaii and the U.S. West coast, where evacuations were ordered from California to Washington but little damage was reported. The entire Pacific had been put on alert — including coastal areas of South America, Canada and Alaska — but waves were not as bad as expected.
In northeastern Japan, the area around a nuclear power plant was evacuated after the reactor's cooling system failed and pressure began building inside.
Police said 200 to 300 bodies were found in the northeastern coastal city of Sendai, the city in Miyagi prefecture, or state, closest to the epicenter. But authorities said they weren't able to reach the area because of damage to the roads.
A police official, who declined to be named because of department policy, said it may be a while before rescuers could reach the area to get more precise body count. So far, they have confirmed 178 were killed, with 584 missing. Police also said 947 people were injured.
The magnitude-8.9 offshore quake triggered a 23-foot (seven-meter) tsunami and was followed for hours by more than 50 aftershocks, many of them more than magnitude 6.0. In the early hours of Saturday, a magnitude-6.7 earthquake struck the central, mountainous part of the country — far from the original quake's epicenter. It was not immediately clear if this latest quake was related to the others.
Friday's massive quake shook dozens of cities and villages along a 1,300-mile (2,100-kilometer) stretch of coast, including Tokyo, hundreds of miles (kilometers) from the epicenter. A large section of Kesennuma, a town of 70,000 people in Miyagi, burned furiously into the night with no apparent hope of being extinguished, public broadcaster NHK said.
Koto Fujikawa, 28, was riding a monorail when the quake hit and had to pick her way along narrow, elevated tracks to the nearest station.
"I thought I was going to die," Fujikawa, who works for a marketing company, said. "It felt like the whole structure was collapsing."
Scientists said the quake ranked as the fifth-largest earthquake in the world since 1900 and was nearly 8,000 times stronger than one that devastated Christchurch, New Zealand, last month.
"The energy radiated by this quake is nearly equal to one month's worth of energy consumption" in the United States, U.S. Geological Survey Scientist Brian Atwater told The Associated Press.
President Barack Obama pledged U.S. assistance following what he called a potentially "catastrophic" disaster. He said one U.S. aircraft carrier is already in Japan, and a second is on its way. A U.S. ship was also heading to the Marianas Islands to assist as needed, he added.
An American man working at one of the nuclear plants near the coast when the quake hit said the whole building shook and debris fell from the ceiling. Danny Eudy, 52, a technician employed by Pasedena, Texas-based Atlantic Plant Maintenance, and his colleagues escaped the building just as the tsunami hit, his wife told The Associated Press.
"He walked through so much glass that his feet were cut. It slowed him down," said Pineville, Louisiana, resident Janie Eudy, who spoke to her husband by phone after the quake.
The group watched homes and vehicles be carried away in the wave and found their hotel mostly swept away when they finally reached it.
The government later ordered about 3,000 residents near that plant — in the city of Onahama — to move back at least two miles (three kilometers) from the plant. The reactor was not leaking radiation but its core remained hot even after a shutdown. The plant is 170 miles (270 kilometers) northeast of Tokyo.
Japan's nuclear safety agency said pressure inside the reactor at the Fukushima No. 1 power plant has risen to 1.5 times the level considered normal, and slightly radioactive vapor may be released to reduce the pressure.
The Defense Ministry said it had sent dozens of troops trained to deal with chemical disasters to the plant in case of a radiation leak.
Trouble was reported at two other nuclear plants, but there was no radiation leak at either of them.
Prime Minister Naoto Kan planned to hold an emergency Cabinet meeting early Saturday morning and them take a helicopter to the quake-hit area and the troubled nuclear power plants.
Japan's coast guard said it was searching for 80 dock workers on a ship that was swept away from a shipyard in Miyagi.
Even for a country used to earthquakes, this one was of horrific proportions because of the tsunami that crashed ashore, swallowing everything in its path as it surged several miles (kilometers) inland before retreating. The apocalyptic images on Japanese TV of powerful, debris-filled waves, uncontrolled fires and a ship caught in a massive whirlpool resembled scenes from a Hollywood disaster movie.
Large fishing boats and other vessels rode high waves ashore, slamming against overpasses or scraping under them and snapping power lines along the way. Upturned and partially submerged cars bobbed in the water. Ships anchored in ports crashed against each other.
Hip Hop's newest hook girl is gearing up for a solo career.
Skylar Grey has signed to Interscope Records and producer Alex Da Kid's Wonderland Music, reports rap-up.com.
The singer, who has been featured on songs such as Dr. Dre's "I Need a Doctor," featuring Eminem, Lupe Fiasco's "Words I Never Said," and the original version of Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie," is due to release a lead single this spring, with an album to follow this year.
Grey has made two high-profile appearances on stage so far this year, the first of which was for a live rendition of "I Need a Doctor" at last month's Grammy Awards. Yesterday (March 10), she performed the song she co-wrote for Diddy-Dirty Money, "Coming Home," on "American Idol."
“Getting to perform on television with Eminem and Dr. Dre still doesn’t feel real to me and now to perform with Diddy-Dirty Money in the course of a month is unreal,” said Skylar. “I’m really excited about the opportunity to perform on ‘Idol.’ It’s incredible to have all of this leading into my album coming this year—I am so fortunate.”
Alex Da Kid will be producing the album. Here's a couple of songs you may have heard, scratch that, Im SURE you all have heard featuring Skylar Grey:
